PBFS Tucker is proud to announce Shawn Martin as the second recipient of the Pye-Barker Eddie Award.  The Pye-Barker “Eddie” was created to honor those employees who go above and beyond the call of service to help a fellow employee or member of the community while on the job.

The Pye-Barker Eddie was awarded to Martin in recognition of his selfless care for one of his peers, who was injured on the job.  Tucker technician Jeff Cox was completing a job when he fell off a ladder and had to be transported to the hospital.  Martin was sent to complete the job.  After taking care of the customer and inspecting the property, he went to the hospital to check on Cox.  When he found out that Cox had no family in the area, Martin chose to stay and take care of him, providing food, medicine, and anything else he needed.  Martin kept Cox company until his son was able to arrive from out of town.

We are inspired by Martin’s selfless care for his fellow team member, but his manager shares that going above and beyond is part of Martin’s character.  It is the reason Martin was recently promoted from technician to Project Coordinator for the Special Alarms Division of the Tucker, GA branch.

We are proud to make Shawn Martin our second Pye-Barker Eddie recipient.  Thank you, Shawn, for your great kindness!  May your example inspire all of our employees to treat each other with the best care.

The Pye-Barker Eddie Award was named after PBFS Charleston employee Eddie Hall, who stopped to put out a car fire he passed on the way to a job, saving the life of the person trapped inside the vehicle.  His courage inspired us to create this award, to properly recognize and honor the impeccable courage and care of our employees.
