Pye-Barker’s Vice President of Business Development, Jeremy Bates, made an appearance on the SS&Si Dealer Network podcast, Coffee Break with Jake, to discuss the sale of his own business to Pye-Barker. Bates Security was started by his Jeremy’s parents in 1984. Eventually, Jeremy and his brother Brian took over the thriving business, growing it to over 150 employees and earning No. 32 on the SDM 100.
As Bates explains, he initially had no intention of selling the successful operation. After all, the business wore his name and was a large part of his identity, so the process of considering a buyer was very emotional. Through conversations with his peers who had sold to Pye-Barker and observing their success, Bates found that Pye-Barker was committed to creating more leaders and harvesting a supportive culture. As Bates shares, he soon realized Pye-Barker was a valuable opportunity for his employees and customers.
