At Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, we believe every team member has the power to define their own legacy. But legacy is personal—so we asked our team what it means to them to grow their careers as part of the Pye-Barker family.

Their responses came in many forms: poems, songs, videos, letters, and artwork. Each one is a powerful reflection of pride, purpose, and passion.

Watch the video below to see a selection of these inspiring contributions from team members across the country. The full submissions are below the video.

To me, that flame represents legacy; something powerful, alive, and meaningful. It symbolizes knowledge, responsibility, and care being passed from one person to the next.

Being on the Pye-Barker team means I’m part of something bigger than myself. I’m not just doing a job, I’m carrying forward a mission of safety, service, and trust.

Just like in the painting, I see my role as both a protector and a torchbearer, receiving the fire from those before me and passing it on stronger to those who come next.

Why I love working for Pye-Barker

In the heart of Pye-Barker’s bright embrace,
I find my purpose, my cherished place.
Together we stand, a family strong,
In service and safety, where I belong.

The laughter we share, the goals that we chase,
In times of challenge, we quicken the pace.
With every spark that we fight with care,
I love my team, our bond so rare.

Each day brings growth, each task a delight,
At Pye-Barker, we ignite the light.
For in this journey, side by side we thrive,
It’s more than a job; it’s where we come alive.

This company came into my life unexpectedly as we were one of the many companies purchased by Pye-Barker. Little did I know this company would mean this much to me! They gave me an opportunity I had only dreamed of.

My children and husband see all the time and effort I have put into my job because Pye-Barker has become a major part of my life. This year, I watched my son walk across the stage and not only just receive a high school diploma, but he had 8 cords draped around his neck, a golden layover to signify academic excellence and achievement, and also a National Honor Society graduation stole signifying my son’s commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

I look forward to many years with this company and I truly appreciate eveything Pye-Barker has done for me and my family!

Being on the Pye-Barker team means I get to be part of a bigger solution, protecting people in my community whom I know, not just strangers. Most of our customers are members of our own hometown, sharing the same stores, job sites, and schools that we frequent with our families.
The photo I shared is of my youngest son, who will be graduating from high school and the Fire Academy this May. Our dinner table conversations since he began this journey last year have opened my eyes to the strong connection shared across the fire protection industry.
I’ve been proud to offer him insight into what we do, and to hear his perspective on the same issues.

I’m beyond proud that we’ll be protecting lives together.

Being on the Pye-Barker team means being listened to. It means being cared about. It means the higher-ups know your name and are rarely “too busy” to ask how your day is going or what’s happening in your life.

I have never worked for a company where I’ve felt so welcomed, by both the inside and outside crews.

Pye-Barker goes out of its way to keep employees informed, whether through the newsletter, town hall meetings, or personalized greetings.

What I’m really trying to say is this: this company truly cares about its people. I feel it, and it’s refreshing to be part of a place like this.

Poetry Submission

In the heart of pipes where the waters flow,
You stood as the guard, ensuring they’d know,
That safety and purity would always prevail,
Through your skill and your knowledge, no task would derail.

Each valve you inspected, each system you sealed,
Brought peace to the spaces your work revealed.
For in every connection, your passion ran deep,
Protecting the waters that families keep.

Through Shelbyville’s streets and far beyond,
You forged with your hands a resilient bond,
Between those who thirst and the streams they trust,
Turning challenges faced into triumphs robust.

At Pye-Barker, your legacy gleams,
In the laughter of children, the worker’s dreams.
For every home safe, every backflow deterred,
Your name is the echo in stories transferred.

Not just a specialist but a steward of care,
You’ve left behind more than systems to spare.
It’s respect for the craft, a vision of pride,
A mark on the world where purity abides.

As waters flow forward, your lessons remain,
A reminder of effort, of grit unrestrained.
Your legacy, etched in the currents of time,
Flows steady and strong—a river sublime.

Being a part of the Pye-Barker team means everything to me and my family because of the man I’ve become while working alongside some of the most talented and passionate team members and managers I’ve ever met.
The moment it truly clicked for me that Pye-Barker was something special was the day we were inspecting an old office building and found inspection tags from 1991, with my teammate’s name on them. It brought a tear to his eye as he remembered some of the best moments of his career. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still has those tags to this day.

To me, Pye-Barker is the cream of the crop. I’m so proud to be part of it, after living the dream through someone else’s eyes, it’s now my reality.

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

There is lots of opportunity for growth. They really care about their employees, so they want to promote from within. And there’s people like me who start out as entry-level positions.
I was an accounting admin at one of the branches here in Tennessee that was acquired and recently applied for and got the position for as a corporate paralegal. I like to see the growth within the company. I like to see people have opportunities.

I’m really excited for what the future holds. I can see more growth within my future, and I could see happily retiring from this company.

Being on the Pye-Barker team mean knowing that both my team and I are doing everything we can to ensure safety in our community.
