Pye-Barker Fire is proud to announce the acquisition of Rapid Fire Protection Group (RFPG), an expert fire protection company with locations across the Mountain States and beyond, including California. From humble family beginnings to a nationally recognized industry presence, RFPG has an inspiring story and a promising future. We are proud to welcome this competitive business into the Pye-Barker Fire team and look forward to expanding our capabilities for our combined customer base.
RFPG began as Rapid Fire Protection, a four-man operation made up of three family members and an apprentice, working out of a basement in South Dakota. Martin Hammon, father of RFPG CEO Matt Hammon, started the business with a big goal to reach a certain annual volume. The team, Martin and Matt, Martin’s son-in-law and journeyman fire sprinkler fitter, and his apprentice Rod DiBona, worked hard to reach this goal.
Over the next 15 years, Rapid Fire Protection far exceeded Martin’s hopes. Having achieved his goal, he was ready to slow down, but Matt and Rod wanted to keep the momentum going. So, in 2012 Matt bought the business from his father. Matt continued to grow the business by acquiring several fire protection companies in surrounding states. They centralized under the RFPG name and soon provided expert fire sprinkler services nationwide.
Today, RFPG is a leading provider of fire sprinkler services. Matt and Rod continue to lead the company, as CEO and COO respectively, and have a large, experienced team. Their desire to enable the company to reach its full potential was what compelled them to consider joining the Pye-Barker Fire team.
“A key advantage to teaming up with Pye-Barker Fire is combining our strengths,” Matt shared. “We know fire sprinklers. They know fire alarms and extinguishers. There is power in tying it all together.”
RFPG is innovative because of their specialization in various fire sprinkler sectors. With special divisions for each sector, they are a comprehensive fire sprinkler systems provider. Their fire sprinkler experience will be a great advantage to Pye-Barker as we continue our expansion efforts in the western part of the country. At the same time, Pye-Barker’s extensive experience with fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers will help RFPG expand their limited capabilities in these areas.

All RFPG employees will be remaining on through the transition. Matt and Rod will both remain as well to lead their team. With this acquisition, Pye-Barker now has locations in 23 states across the country and over 90 locations.
