With the acquisition of Universal Fire Equipment in Portland, Oregon, Pye-Barker Fire & Safety has achieved 50 locations across 10 states. This is a major milestone in our company’s history and marks our shift from a localized business to a national fire protection provider.
In June 2016, Pye-Barker was still considered a southeastern company with 17 locations surrounding our original Georgian roots. It was at that time that we started to focus on entering new regions and making our premier fire protection services available to new areas of the country, while expanding our presence in our established markets.
Our first steps focused on strengthening our southern presence. We acquired Myrtle Beach, South Carolina’s dominant fire protection provider, then added several companies in Florida to the PBFS team (Brandon, Daytona Beach, Pompano Beach). We entered two of North Carolina’s most important markets, Durham and Charlotte, and expanded our capabilities in our original market through two acquisitions in Atlanta and Tucker. We continued acquiring companies, adding key personnel and additional services, until Pye-Barker was a dominant presence across our existing states.
Our expansion into new regions began with Texas, where we acquired A-1 Fire and Safety Equipment and Dragon Fire Equipment, adding five new Pye-Barker branches in the span of two months. Before the end of 2018 we also established ourselves in Colorado and Kentucky, making 2018 a historic year for the company.
2019, however, was destined to top the accomplishments of the previous year. As of October 2019, Pye-Barker has acquired nine new companies in the span of 10 months. We have exploded into our Colorado marketand taken over portions of Florida through several acquisitions, including Triangle Fire in Doral and Sea Coast Fire in Miami. We increased our locations in Texas and South Carolina, while expanding further west through the addition of Utah Fire Equipment to the Pye-Barker family.
With the acquisition of Universal Fire Equipment in Portland, Oregon, Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is proud to offer coast-to-coast fire protection services for the first time in our company’s history. Over the past three and half years we have added 33 locations, entered five new states, and gained national attention, earning a spot on the Inc. 5000 list of Most Successful Companies for 2019. We are honored to be carrying on the legacy for so many proud family fire protection companies and thank our dedicated team of employees, from our field technicians and office staff to Pye-Barker’s management and corporate teams, who continue to spread our good name and establish our reputation in our markets as a premier fire protection provider.
